PIN BRAZING

Pin brazing is a unique brazing method to connect electrical cable to metal and widely used in many cathodic protection applications in oil and gas industry such as in oil and gas cross country pipeline, offshore  pipeline and chemical plant piping.

A special brazing pin with a silver solder (melting temperature less than 700 deg C) is melt down in the cable lugs hole and creates a brazed silver connection between the cable wires itself and to the piece of steel. Silver, which is the best electrical conductor, gives an extremely low transition resistance.

Advantages of pin brazing:

  • Simple and fast, the pin brazing process takes only a second and the whole preparation takes less than a minute.
  • Economical.
  • Safe for operator;
  • Low temperature, thus safe the parent metal. It is a silver brazing method. Does not melt the parent metal down as welding method does.
  • Corrosion free.
  • No mould is needed.
